Your newborn baby’s skin is 2 to 3 times thinner than yours and is very soft and sensitive. Keep him away from direct sunlight till six months and dress him in protective yet light clothing. Choose light colours and breathing fabrics with a hat to protect his head and face. Bathe him every other day with mild baby soap and shampoo. Give him a gentle sponge bath with soft, fragrance and alcohol free wipes such as MamyPoko baby wipes. Always read the labels and check with your paediatrician before using anything new on your child.
Three essential baby products that you should check before using:
* Baby powder: Most of the baby powders that come in ‘new baby’ hampers are not as good as they seem. Baby powder should either be talc or corn starch-based. Powders made from other ingredients can prove to be harmful. While using powder on your baby, use it sparingly and do not bring it anywhere near your baby’s face.
* Baby oil: Always be careful in choosing the right oil because most of the baby oils, petroleum jellies, baby liquid soaps and lotions contain mineral oil as a key ingredient. While there is a question regarding the safety of using mineral oil on babies for a long time, it is preferable to use almond or coconut oil on your baby’s skin instead of a by-product of gasoline from crude oil.
* Diaper: Regular diapers keep your baby dry but be careful while the fastening tapes because if the hard and sticky tapes rub against your baby‘s delicate skin, it may cause redness or rashes. Also keep in mind to place the tapes in a perfect position because tightening it will hurt the baby while a loose t will cause leakage. A good idea would be to choose a small size pant-type diaper that come with ‘No Tapes’. The self adjustable all-round elastic wide band for the waist and soft gathers for the legs keep your baby snug and ensures comfort. Pant Style Diapers are also very easy to put on and can be removed easily by tearing the sides.

MamyPoko Pants are a wonderful thing! A sales promotion girl explained why a pant type diaper is good for babies and gave me a trial pack. Initially, I was apprehensive to try it but after using it, I realized how these diapers are. It has a cloth like very soft stretchable band that is perfect for my daughter’s delicate skin. It has been 5 months since I am using S size of MamyPoko Pants and cannot imagine going back to a regular tape diaper. In fact, I suggested MamyPoko Pants to my cousin who has a 2.5 month old baby and she just can’t thank me enough for making her diaper days easy!

I didn’t have the option of 'parent & baby friendly' pant diapers for my elder one. Being a rst time mother, I wasn’t used to fastening the tapes and at times, the plastic tapes would dislodge and stick to her gentle skin causing irritation, marks and redness. Also, I had to adjust the tapes to ensure that she is comfortable, because after every feed her tummy would expand and contract later. Sometimes the diaper loosened causing leakage. I thank my stars that I found MamyPoko Pants in size S for my younger one. It’s easy to put on, just like making her wear a panty and has self adjustable soft waist band. Most importantly, it keeps her at ease and happy at all times.
